About BRAG

“The ultimate test of a man’s conscience may be his willingness to sacrifice
something today for future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard.”
- Gaylord Nelson

The Bridgton Recreation Advancement Group was founded in 1997 in response to growing community interest in developing recreational facilities and programs. Since then, our volunteer organization has worked alongside numerous local groups to establish gymnasiums, sponsor Pondicherry Days’ Iron Kid competition, run the annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, and build the Bridgton Skate Park.

BRAG’s most amazing project to date is the Bridgton Community Recreation Complex, which will feature lighted fields for football, soccer, bocce ball, softball, and baseball, with tennis courts, basketball courts and a walking path that will circle the entire complex. Learn more (and see the map) in our Recreation Complex section!

Our Officers

Bill Macdonald - President

Bill Macdonald, our President, is the General Manager at Macdonald Motors in Bridgton. After attending the 2007 BRAG Community Forum, Bill decided it was time to help bring the Bridgton Community Recreation Complex to fruition and was an integral part of BRAG's next community forum two years later.

An avid baseball fan, Bill also volunteers as a t-ball coach for the Bridgton Red Monsters.

Larry Carter - Vice President

Larry Carter, our Vice President, is a baseball and car racing fan. A Sysco Sales Specialist in dry grocery and seafood, Larry also volunteers as President of the Sebago Long Lake Cal Ripken League and as their Assistant State Commissioner. Through his involvement with this league, Larry has seen firsthand the need for quality sports fields, and he looks forward to bringing these fun and lucrative tournaments to Bridgton.

Larry's fondest sports memory is when he coached back-to-back State Championships in Cal Ripken baseball in 2000 and 2001.

Sarah Davis - Treasurer

Sarah is our new treasurer. Sarah brings her love for Bridgton, her knowledge of the nuances of law, and her tireless dedication to BRAG. A new mom, Sarah is a busy lady, but she still finds time to devote to numerous BRAG functions.

Corinne Davis - Founding Member

Growing up in Portland, Corinne Davis credits the Portland Parks & Recreation Department as a key influence in her young life. She has since striven to bring the same opportunities to the town of Bridgton.

In 1997, Corinne joined with Phil Guntekunst, the town recreation director, to organize a group to meet the growing recreational needs of the Lake Region. The resulting Bridgton Recreation Advancement Group has since become a top proponent for developing community activities and recreational facilities.

Willie Angeleno - Board Member

Willie is a crucial member of the Bridgton Recreation Advancement Group's fundraising team, usually beating the pavement promoting BRAG events. A lover of sports, Willie can always be found manning the food booth at our yearly 3- on-3 event or visiting our dodgeball league to watch a game!

Carrie Bush - Board Member

Our newest board member, Carrie joined BRAG in February of 2010. A lacrosse coach and former Division 1 lacrosse player, Carrie knows sports!

Dan Edwards - Secretary

A local animator and designer, Dan came on board when invited to work on the website. Eventually Dan decided to join, offering promotional help by creating a new brochure, logo, and numerous shirts and posters for the group.

Dan loves to ski, and although he is admittedly terrible at most organized sports, he believes strongly in the Bridgton Recreation Advancement Group's ability to make this town even better and maybe to improve a little himself while he's at it.
